How does Dutch for Kids work?
Dutch for Kids offers online Dutch lessons for children living abroad. All lessons are taught live by experienced and highly qualified teachers who specialise in teaching Dutch to expat children.
This is how it works:
- Lessons are one-to-one or in small groups
- Suitable for children aged 4 to 18
- Fully tailored to each child’s level, age and interests

For families on Ibiza, scheduling is especially easy because there is no time difference with the Netherlands. Children can simply follow their Dutch lesson after school. Many children on Ibiza finish school around 4:30 pm, go home, have something to eat, and then start their Dutch lesson in a relaxed way.
Thanks to our large and flexible teaching team, this is never a problem. Some of our teachers prefer working in the late afternoon or early evening, which allows us to start lessons later in the day if needed. This way, Dutch lessons fit smoothly into your family’s daily routine.

At Dutch for Kids, we have extensive experience working with children who grow up between multiple languages and cultures. We believe it is very important to take this into account during our lessons.
In Spain — and on Ibiza as well — children usually do not celebrate Sinterklaas. Still, many children really enjoy learning about this Dutch tradition during their lessons. Singing a Sinterklaas song, learning new vocabulary, or talking about putting out a shoe helps children connect with Dutch culture in a fun and meaningful way.
At the same time, there is plenty of room for local traditions. Christmas and Three Kings (Día de los Reyes) are major celebrations in Spain, and children love talking about these experiences in Dutch during their lessons. This makes learning Dutch natural, relevant and engaging, as it is directly connected to their own lives.
