Dutch for Kids recognised in The Hague: A special milestone for our Online Dutch lessons for children

Sometimes, something happens that makes you stop for a moment.

Something that makes you think: wow… this is really special.

Last week, we had one of those moments at Dutch for Kids.
A moment I feel incredibly proud of — and one I would love to share with you.

Because Dutch for Kids was invited to Sociale Kaart Live in The Hague. And what happened there felt like such a beautiful recognition of everything we have been building with love, care and dedication over the past 13 years.

It All Started with a Special Phone Call

It all began when I received a phone call from Erika, who is connected to the organisation Taalschatten. She is a language consultant in The Hague and was involved in organising the event.

While preparing for the event, she came across Dutch for Kids… and decided to call me right away.

She said something along the lines of:

“Anouk, what you are doing is absolutely fantastic! I am so enthusiastic about what I see. This quality, at this level… we would really love to get to know you better.”

Well… you can imagine how that made me feel!

She was incredibly impressed by what we do and wanted to know everything about our organisation, our teaching approach and the way we support children.

Why Dutch for Kids stands out

After that first conversation, we received an invitation to attend Sociale Kaart Live in The Hague. I was allowed to bring someone with me, so I went together with Marjolein.

And honestly?
We went with an open mind, because we had absolutely no idea what to expect.

We did not know whether it would be very formal, or more relaxed and casual. But we simply stepped into it with enthusiasm.

And what a special day it turned out to be.

Among other things, we attended a live podcast with Hilbert Bredemeijer, Alderman of The Hague, together with Princess Laurentien.

It was incredibly inspiring to hear how seriously and passionately people in The Hague are looking at the future of language development.

Marjolein and I also had the chance to network with many professionals who are all involved in language education and child development in The Hague.

An invitation we will never forget

And then came what may have been the most special moment of the entire day…

At the end of the event, we were even invited to visit Princess Laurentien at her home on 6 October 2026. To brainstorm together with other professionals about the Dutch language for children. I can’t wait!

Gijs, Samantha, Marjolein and I will be going together, alongside many other professionals who are doing important work in the field of language development in The Hague.

How special is that?!

Those are the kinds of moments that make you think:

Wow… years ago, we could never have imagined this.

My head is honestly still spinning a little.

So much has happened in such a short time that I still catch myself blinking and thinking: did that really happen?

But while I was in the middle of it all, I felt one thing very strongly:

We built this together.

We did not get here by chance.

We have been building this for 13 years.
With love.
With care.
With quality.
With perseverance.

And how special is it that now, the municipality of The Hague and Taalschatten are showing so much enthusiasm for what we do — and want to help us reach even more children, because they see the value families receive at Dutch for Kids.

That feels incredibly meaningful.
